Systems Administrator

Description

We are looking for a Systems Administrator to join our team!  The successful applicant will have extensive knowledge and skills to lead various IT projects and services, involving hardware/software infrastructure for our head office, branch locations, and data centers. 

What you’ll get to do:
  • Conceptualize, plan and implement network designs, storage and compute requirements, server virtualization and migration, capacity planning, backup strategies and disaster recovery
  • Lead and Participate in various IT projects:
    • Maintenance and expansion of our vSphere environments
    • Firewalls enhancements and upgrade 
    • Microsoft 365 – Exchange, Teams, OneDrive and more
    • Security and Compliance analysis and remediation
    • Support various Cloud Development initiatives
  • Work with DevOps team to provide highly available hardware and network infrastructure for our enterprise applications running on Windows and Linux
  • Provide hardware infrastructure and networking support for our Web Application’s 100% uptime SLA
  • Administration and support of various applications running on Microsoft Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, IIS and SQL Servers) as well as various Linux deployments
  • Setup and administration of systems security, including system access, firewall/VPN configuration, antivirus management, security patch management, and various types of backup management 
  • Keep abreast on the latest technology and prototype infrastructure and security initiatives 
  • Implementation of software upgrades, firmware revisions, operating systems, and other enhancements as required 
  • Monitoring to detect performance degradation and mitigate the risk of system failures 
  • Perform root cause analysis on service outage or performance degradation to determine a sustainable fix  
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of policies and procedures for ensuring security and integrity of all systems
  • Oversee IT support of our head office, company job sites and branch offices 
Who you are:
  • Degree or College diploma in Information Technologies or MCSE/VCP or equivalent experience
  • 7+ Years of Systems Administration experience 
  • Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 SaaS environment 
  • Thorough understanding and administrator experience in creating and maintaining VMware vSphere environments of various scale and complexity 
  • Practical experience installing and maintaining Windows and Linux Servers, Storage appliances and their provisioning 
  • Proficiency and experience with various firewall appliances administration 
  • Local Area and Wide Area Networking experience with respect to Internet and inter-site communications including data center architecture, high availability, VPN and routing 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at the same time, maintain accountability and meet project deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with users at various levels in the organization 
  • Willingness to provide on-call support on a rotational basis. Work during maintenance windows (Saturday and Thursday 1am - 5am) when requested 
  • Attention to detail and consistency are key qualities for this position
